Anaheim Ducks Three Stars of the Week (March 26 – April 1)
The Anaheim Ducks had a mixed bag week. It started off poorly but picked up as time went by. Plenty of players stepped up in the Ducks two dramatic wins which is why this is the most difficult week we’ve had since the list began.
Honorable Mention 2 – John Gibson
Goalie John Gibson didn’t have his usual dominant week. His defense left him hung out to dry in Monday’s 4-1 loss. Sunday he only lasted a period before leaving with a lower-body injury. He is here because of his Herculean performance against Los Angeles Friday night when he stopped 28 of 29 in the Ducks 2-1 OT win.
Honorable Mention 1 – Adam Henrique
Henrique had a good week in the faceoff circle, winning 57.6% of his draws. He also scored the goal that started Anaheim’s comeback against the Avs Sunday night.
The prelims are over, now to the main event.
Third Star – Rickard Rakell
More from Pucks of a Feather
- Who could the Anaheim Ducks consider presenting offer sheets to?
- Is Pierre-Luc Dubois on the cards for the rebuilding Anaheim Ducks?
- Making the case for the Anaheim Ducks to trade with the Edmonton Oilers
- Anaheim Ducks might benefit tremendously by trading John Gibson
- How close are the Anaheim Ducks to becoming contenders again?
One goal usually isn’t enough to make for a player to make our three stars list. In fact, he didn’t exactly set the world on fire in two of the three games he played. Rakell is the third star this week because he scored the overtime winner against the Kings on Friday. His score resulted in the Anaheim Ducks adding a crucial extra point in their battle to make the playoffs.
Second Star – Andrew Cogliano
Cogs had a good week. He scored two goals and added an assist. His speed was on display for both scores, but Sunday’s goal included a nasty deke on Colorado’s Jonathan Bernier. His timeliness and hustle was a great example to the rest of the team this week.

First Star – Ondrej Kase
His overtime winner Sunday night was almost enough to make the list on its own. On the play, he made Colorado defenseman Samuel Girard freeze in his own skates. Throw in an assist on each of the Ducks’ two goals against Los Angeles and Kase is our second star.
