Injuries To Anaheim Ducks Despres and Sekac Taking Time to Heal

The Anaheim Ducks have endured a number of injuries thus far. Several players have been banged up throughout the beginning of the season while others remain out with no timetable of return set.

Two of those players that remain out are defensemen Simon Despres and winger Jiri Sekac.

Despres has missed the last 12 games after taking a high hit to the head from Colorado defensemen Tyson Barrie, who was suspended three games for the hit.

There have been minimal updates on Despres recovery and it appears as though he has yet to be cleared for off-ice activities. This is a bad situation for the Ducks as Despres appears to be dealing with lingering concussion issues.

At this point, an estimated return date would be a 100% guess. His return could not come soon enough though as the Ducks have had issues protecting their lead late in recent games.

Jiri Sekac suffered a high ankle sprain against the Nashville Predators nearly a week and a half ago and he has missed the last five games.

An update was given on Sekac yesterday as the Ducks announced he will remain out for a few more weeks. Another bad situation for the Ducks as Sekac was impressive throughout camp and preseason and his confidence with the puck was on high display throughout the first weeks of the season.

Sekac is still sporting a walking boot as he remains on crutches, so it appears that the earliest return date would not be until the very end of November or early December.

Despres and Sekac were both acquired before last seasons trade deadline as Bob Murray addressed two needs with his team, defense and speed. Both are set to play a big role with the Ducks this season as Bob Murray and Bruce Boudreau patiently await their return.
