Which player from the Anaheim Ducks would you like to quarantine with? We’re breaking our top 5 picks.

It has been a month since the Anaheim Ducks last took the ice. Their 2-4 loss against the St. Louis Blues was not the ideal end to such a heartbreaking season. Since then, a lot has happened throughout the world. COVID-19 has stolen a lot from us, robbing us of our joy. It has taken it’s toll in more ways than we could have ever imagined.

While this article is not being written to downplay the seriousness of this pandemic, I think we all need a little entertainment. There is only so much Tiger King you can watch and Animal Crossing you can play before you start to go a little nuts. Most of us are longing for the day when we can leave our houses without risking our health and the health of others. However, what we may not realize is that the Anaheim Ducks are experiencing this right along with us.

While the break from hockey might have been nice in the beginning, allowing the players to rest their tired bodies, this isn’t the ideal situation for them either. This isn’t like the off-season. They can’t skate, they can’t train, and they can’t take time to reconnect with their families and recuperate during their vacations before the daunting task of training camp begins.

There is no guarantee that the 2019-20 hockey season will resume. There is also no guarantee that next season will start in a timely fashion either. With the date of the draft up in the air, playoffs uncertain, and the draft lottery the last thing on everyone’s mind, this time has not been easy for the players, for us, or the NHL as a whole.

The great thing about the world we live in today, however, is that we can remain connected with our favorite players via social media. We’ve seen several players showcase their hidden talents, and it has given us a little insight into how they are coping with self-quarantine. With that in mind, which of the players on the Anaheim Ducks current roster do we think we would have the most fun being quarantined with?

Ryan Miller

We haven’t heard much from Ryan Miller during this quarantine, except that he recently joined the world of Instagram, where he showcased the design for some pretty snazzy new pads he was intending to wear for the last month of the season.

His caption for his first post on Insta gives the inclination that Ryan Miller isn’t ready to leave the NHL and hang up his skates quite yet.

With a very impressive NHL resume, should you decided Miller is the guy you’d like to quarantine with, you would have 17 years’ worth of stories to listen to and discuss. Not to mention, Miller and his wife, Noureen, both have an incredible sense of humor, making them a fun pair to spend an extended period with.

Plus, Miller seems to have an incredible ability to procure all the best snacks, as we saw during the 2019-20 season. So, you definitely won’t be without the essentials hanging out with Ryan, Noureen, and their adorable son, Bodhi.

Adam Henrique

Since he was acquired by the Anaheim Ducks in 2017, Adam Henrique, or Uncle Rico as the fans call him, quickly became a fan favorite. Not only is he dedicated to the game, but he is also dedicated to the hockey community as a whole. He is an all-around great guy and would be a lot of fun to quarantine with.

For starters, he just adopted Sammy, an adorable 4-year-old Maltese/Bichon mix. That means lots of cuddles from Rico’s new furry friend. Henrique has also been a big advocate of supporting health care workers during the COVID-19 crisis. This means you could have a big hand in helping him in his mission to provide and purchase meals for families of health care workers who have been financially devastated during this time.

Lastly, Henrique has been spending a lot of time watching old NHL games from his time with the Devils. How fun would it be to experience these games, once again, with an NHL player? We’ve all seen him on the ice, but you’ve never been able to watch a game with him. Plus, his couch looks incredibly comfortable.

Hampus Lindholm

For all of our foodies, Hampus Lindholm would be the perfect player to quarantine with. Our favorite flavor scientist has made creations that have left our mouths watering over the past few weeks. He doesn’t always cook with unconventional tools like hockey sticks, but if you’re interested in learning how to make, or eat delicious meals, Chef Hampus is your guy.

Not only would you get to quarantine with Lindholm, but you would also be spending some time with his two dogs and girlfriend Ashely Brewer. For anyone interested in talking about sports journalism and broadcasting, she’s your girl to talk to. Her work at ABC7, ESPN, and beyond, is admirable.

Two great people, two furry friends, and delicious meals sound like a dream amid quarantine. Can it get any better than that?

Rickard Rakell

Rickard Rakell and his fiance Emmeli, along with their two dogs, Stella and Heinz, are currently enjoying the serene landscape in their beautiful native Sweden. Not only are they finishing the building of their gorgeous home, but they have been enjoying activities such as four-wheeling, ice fishing, and since it is the end of winter in Sweden, they have been able to enjoy a little one on one hockey, as well.

Not to mention, much like his best friend, Hampus Lindholm, Rakell seems to be quite the cook, especially when it comes to Swedish dishes. The pair, Rickard and Emmeli, also seem like great hosts who both have a goofy sense of humor.

If you are interested in learning about the Swedish culture, love big dogs, and want a little bit of freedom to explore and participate in a few fun winter activities, Rickard Rakell would be the player for you to quarantine with during this pandemic.

Ryan Getzlaf

Is there any surprise that our fearless Captain is on our list? Ryan Getzlaf is typically very reserved off the ice, and we don’t see much from him on social media. However, the Anaheim Ducks official Instagram, as well as the NHL Youtube channel, has given us some insight into how Getzy is spending his time away from the ice.

In his free time, Getzlaf has taken up carpentry and built a chicken coop. So, rest assured that you’d have plenty of free-range, delicious, fresh eggs every day, with the ability to eat as many as your heart desires. Also, it seems like Getzy can make a pretty mean sandwich too.

Aside from his skills with the hammer and condiments, there are a lot of stories that you can hear first hand. Getzlaf is the longest-tenured Anaheim Duck in franchise history. If there’s a story you want to hear, it’s more than likely that he was there for it. Imagine hearing stories of the ’07 Cup run from the man who led the team in points that post-season and experienced it first hand.
