The Anaheim Ducks open up the New Year against their Pacific Divison Rivals, the Arizona Coyotes.

A new year might mean a fresh start for everyone else, but the Anaheim Ducks are right in the middle of their season and they have to make the most of what is left of 2019-20. Tonight, they start the New Year just as they started the new season, against the Arizona Coyotes.

For the first time since being traded to Arizona, the Anaheim Ducks will have to face an already ferocious Coyote’s team with the addition of Taylor Hall. The Yotes have lost against difficult teams lately, but have still been a formidable opponent. If the Ducks have any hope of winning or even being competitive tonight, they have to put the first half of the season behind them and go into the second half of the year with a new strategy.

John Gibson‘s recent comments, calling out his own team, are sure to be a wake-up call to those on the team who are just, pun intended, skating by. Whether they win or lose tonight doesn’t matter. What we need to see is some sort of improvement, because, after last season and the first half of this season, that’s all the fans really want.

Anaheim Ducks Betting Odds & Lines

Anaheim Ducks: +151

Arizona Coyotes: -175

The Arizona Coyotes are the favorite for tonight’s game, and rightfully so. According to the Action Network, they’re sitting at -175 on the money line. The team has been comfortable in one of the Pacific Divison’s top three spots for a good portion of the season. They’ve had their share of struggles, but they’ve chosen to rise above and keep pressing forward, a great mental attitude that the Anaheim Ducks should adopt. However, despite being the favorite for tonight’s game, the Anaheim Ducks have had success against teams that they rightfully shouldn’t have. A new year could give their spirits the extra boost they need to be the underdogs that come out on top.
