Anaheim Ducks: Adam Henrique Joins Team Canada for IIHF World Championships
This year at the IIHF World Championships in Slovakia, the Anaheim Ducks will be represented by Adam Henrique as he vies for gold with Team Canada.
For 23 NHL teams, the prospect of winning the coveted Stanley Cup has come to an end. They will spend the next few months resting, training, and preparing for the upcoming season. However, for the players on these 23 teams, there is a chance for them to win gold if they are chosen to represent their respective counties at the IIHF World Championships. This year, Adam Henrique was chosen to represent Team Canada and the Anaheim Ducks at the tournament in Slovakia.
As one of the Ducks leading point producers this season, it comes as no surprise that the hard-working, dynamic, two-way center was chosen to represent his native country. With the way the season ended in Anaheim, this gives him a chance to find some redemption in the postseason and hopefully make a run for the gold medal alongside some of the best Canadian born hockey players in the league.

Alongside a phenomenal roster with the likes of John Tavares, Mark Stone, Jonathan Marchessault, Shea Theodore, Tyler Bertuzzi, Anthony Mantha, Dylan Strome, and many others, there is a big possibility that Team Canada can redeem themselves from finishing 4th last season and medal this year.
Henrique will also play alongside a familiar face this year, as defenseman Brandon Montour is joining the roster this year. This will certainly help as the team develops their on-ice chemistry. It also helps that Henrique is a natural born leader. He is constantly leading by example and is almost always one of the hardest working players out on the ice.
It is unlikely that we will see any other Anaheim Ducks representing their respective counties this year. Hampus Lindholm, Jakob Silfverberg, and Rickard Rakell have already stated that they are taking this time to rest and nurse a few lingering injuries from their difficult regular season. Cam Fowler was asked to join Team USA but is also taking some time off to prepare for his impending wedding this August.
The tournament is scheduled to begin on Friday, May 10th in Slovakia. Team Canada will be playing in Group A, competing against the United States, Finland, Germany, Slovakia, Denmark, France, and Great Britain. Team Canada is scheduled to open up the IIHF Worlds this year against Finland.
