Anaheim Ducks: Catching Up With Jared Boll After Retirement
What happens to the Anaheim Ducks after they retire? Today we take a look at Jared Boll and his life after the NHL.
On today’s edition of “Where Are They Now?” we’ll be looking at a player whose departure from the Anaheim Ducks was very recent and left a void in my heart, forever longing for his presence on the ice again. I am of course talking about the man with the greatest eyebrows known to man, Jared Rittenhouse Boll.
So, where is Jared now? After announcing his retirement, following back surgery that put an end to his 11-year career, Boll joined the front office of the Columbus Blue Jackets as an Assistant Development Coach. Boll was drafted by the Blue Jackets in 2005 and spent the majority of his career in Columbus before being traded to Anaheim in 2016.
It should come as no surprise that I’d be the one tasked with covering Jared’s life post-playing career, seeing as I’m a self-proclaimed member of the Jared Boll Fan Club, but there isn’t too much else to add onto the fact he joined the Columbus front office.

It’s nice knowing that he found a way to stay in the league after his career was cut short with a nasty back injury. Going back to Columbus, where I’d assume his family was settled down in prior to the trade, was probably a great homecoming for the Boll family. From what I could gather when the news of his return broke, the CBJ fanbase is very fond of him. So, if by some odd chance a Blue Jackets fan stumbles across this, keep on loving on him for all of us here at the JBFC; we miss him and his great eyebrows.
In all seriousness, I really do mean it when I say I’m happy for Jared. Growing attached to players and having them leave for one reason or another is always tough. I was really sad to hear he had to retire for the sake of his wellness this last offseason.
You never want guys to go out like that, especially being somewhat young. Nevertheless, that’s just the sad reality sometimes when you play a rigorous sport like hockey. I miss you, Jared; continued well wishes and best of luck with the Blue Jackets moving forward!
