Anaheim Ducks: 6-Pack of 2018 Summer Predictions
By Ed Stein
Prediction 5 –Anaheim Adds a Veteran Defenseman
When the oldest member of your defense corps in 27, its safe to say a veteran presence could help. The blueline group is talented, but parts of it are a bit green when it comes to experience. Anaheim’s third pairing in the San Jose playoff series, Andy Welinski, and Marcus Pettersson had a combined 29 games of NHL experience.
More from Pucks of a Feather
- Who could the Anaheim Ducks consider presenting offer sheets to?
- Is Pierre-Luc Dubois on the cards for the rebuilding Anaheim Ducks?
- Making the case for the Anaheim Ducks to trade with the Edmonton Oilers
- Anaheim Ducks might benefit tremendously by trading John Gibson
- How close are the Anaheim Ducks to becoming contenders again?
It remains to be seen how Murray will bring someone in. It could be a free agent or a player could come in a trade. Popular opinion among our contributors is that a defenseman such as unrestricted free agent (UFA) Ian Cole is the solution. As a matter of fact, there are rumors floating in cyberspace that the Ducks are interested in former Islanders first-round pick Calvin de Haan.
Prediction 6 – Chrissy Teigen will not become a Ducks Season Ticket Holder
In one of the biggest non-story, stories so far this off-season, model/host Chrissy Teigen and Anaheim Ducks goalie Ryan Miller got into a bit of a tiff on Twitter. It started when Teigen, host of Paramount Network’s “Lip Sync Battle” jokingly posted that she could be a hockey goalie.
The LA Kings went with the joke and mockingly attempted to get her a tryout. Miller, on the other hand, wasn’t amused with the whole thing. He told Teigen so with a tweet of his own. The Ducks went as far as tweeting their support for Miller. Needless to say, both Teigen and Miller eventually played it off. If I were in the Anaheim Ducks season ticket office, I wouldn’t be holding my breath waiting for her 2018-19 order.
I do have a solution. The Ducks reach out to Teigen with a team signed stick and a Miller jersey. They roll out the red carpet and invite her out to host one of the social media nights. She could even drop the ceremonial first puck. Further, they can extend the invite to include her husband, entertainer, John Legend to sing the National Anthem.
The team could do one of those “My day with the Ducks” video segments. Everybody comes out looking good and hopefully, the Teigen and her family have a great time.

Were these bold predictions? No. Were they solid predictions? Absolutely, there is a good chance all the hockey-related ones will happen.
