The rollercoaster ride that was the 2017-2018 season is now finished. Unfortunately, the Anaheim Ducks fell to the San Jose Sharks in four games. As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end.

Bye, Bye, Beauch

Before I get started here I want to wish Francois Beauchemin a happy retirement and thank him for his dedication to the Anaheim Ducks. We were beyond fortunate to share a lot of great memories with Beauch. Congrats again, Boom Boom! Now, on to the recap!

Fatal Four

The Ducks came out stronger in this one, compared to Wednesday night’s game. Anaheim played with a lot more desperation and urgency, easily bringing their best game of the postseason. After a goal from San Jose Winger, Marcus Sorensen, Anaheim trailed 1-0.

More from Pucks of a Feather

San Jose held their lead, up until the third period when Andrew Cogliano finally was able to get one past Martin Jones (that counted). However, the tie was short-lived as San Jose would get a quick one to regain their lead and ultimately clinch the series sweep. Stick taps and best of luck to the Sharks on a well-fought series.

From the Ashes

And that’s all she wrote. While not a great series for the Ducks by any means, there’s one takeaway from this series that I believe will translate into next season. A sweep is going to awaken the sleeping beast. It would not surprise me to see the Ducks come out guns blazing next October.

Hockey players are prideful people. Every year is another opportunity to go all out and try to win it all. Who wants that cut short because of a sweep? Nobody does!  All in all, I think the sweep can be used a great motivational tool going into next season. Let it eat at you, let it bug you. Translate that anger into your game and let loose.

Moving On

Where do we go from here? For starters, we as fans deserve a few days away from hockey. Enjoy the stress-free nights of watching playoff hockey. As a team, the future is not all doom and gloom as some believe.

For the most part, the Anaheim Ducks core will be somewhat similar to what it is currently. Patrick Eaves is set to return, and we may see the emergence of some of our Ducklings on the big club! Things are gonna be alright for the boys from Katella Avenue.

Next: Who's responsible for the Ducks playoff failure?

On behalf of my fellow colleagues here at Pucks Of A Feather, we’d like to thank you all for your dedication and continued support of this page.
