Pucks of a Feather 2015 NHL Mock Draft: Picks 21-30

As we continue our Pucks of a Feather staff 2015 NHL mock draft, it is time to look at picks 21-30

The Anaheim Ducks hold the 27th pick and they have a number of options with whom they will select. The man in charge here, Rich, took care of picks 1-10 while my guy Chris did picks 11-20. So here are my selections for picks 21-30. Enjoy.

Goalie. Magnitorgorsk (MHL). Ilya Samsonov. 21. player. 12. Ilya Samsonov is probably the only goaltender with a chance of being taken in the first round. Buffalo will take Jack Eichel with the second overall pick and with the 21st pick they will look to address a serious need. Sabres GM Tim Murray has been vocal in expressing that his team needs an upgrade in the crease. Samsonov isn’t the quick fix but 3-4 years down the road when the Sabres are ready to contend again, Samsonov could be the man between the pipes as playoff hockey eventually returns to Buffalo.

22. Washington Capitals

player. 19. The Washington Capitals are benefiting from a number of elite prospects jumping to the NHL. Andre Burkakovsky and Evgeni Kuznetsov are two elite forward prospects so it is time for Washington to address future defensive needs. Top D prospect Madison Bowey is an elite offensive talent who could be in Washington soon and to compliment him the Washington Capitals will take Brandon Carlo with the 22nd pick. Carlo is a more defensive type of defensemen, the Karl Alzner type. He could compliment some of Washington’s offensive blueliners down the road and is a smart pick for a Washington team who is on the verge of becoming a beast in the east if they get some more help defensively.. Defense. Tri-City (WHL). Brandon Carlo. 22

23. Vancouver Canucks

104. The Vancouver Canucks have some good offensive prospects as well as good young goaltenders in their system. With the 23rd pick the Canucks will take Thomas Chabot, an all around great defensemen. Chabot plays a steady 2-way game and can eat up ice time. Vancouver lacks a top defensive prospect and Cahbot can change that with his overall impressive play and he will only get better over time.. Defense. Saint John (QMJHL). Thomas Chabot. 23. player

24. Toronto Maple Leafs (from New York Islanders)

25. Winnigpeg Jets (from St. Louis Blues)

25. player. 30. The Winnipeg Jets future is bright and they are loaded with prospect talent. They selected a forward already and will do so again here as they will take the best player on the board, Denis Guryanov. He is a speedy forward who will take the puck to the net. Winnipeg is a few years away from being a top contender and Guryanov has arguably the highest upside of any forward that will be available to them with the 25th pick. He will play into their future plans nicely and could really give them a skilled scoring forward that they need.. Right Wing. Togilatti 2 (MHL). Denis Guryanov

Waterloo (USHL). Brock Boeser. 26. player. 152. Brock Boeser is a highly skilled forward with a great shot and great offensive awareness. He has a quick release on his shot and has the potential to become a great offensive threat down the road. He fits into Montreal’s style of play because he works hard in all three zones and shows some defensive reliability.. Right Wing

27. Anaheim Ducks

The Ducks traded away top center prospect William Karlsson and Rickard Rakell has made the jump to an everyday NHL player, so the Ducks need to rebuild their depth at center. Eriksson has the chance to become an elite offensive talent but he is impressive due to his gritty hard working type of play. He drives the net hard and can in turn produce points. He has been compared to Nino Niederreiter. He could be a long term project but that is fine with the Ducks as Chris Wagner is a center who can jump to the NHL right now if an injury or other issues present themselves. Eriksson is somewhat of a risk but has high upside to become a great player down the road. He fills the whole that William Karlsson left at center with his departure.. Center. Farjestad (SHL). Joel Eriksson Ek. 27. player. 105

28. Tampa Bay Lightning (from New York Rangers)

Jake Debrusk is a son of a former NHLer and he plays like other Lightning forwards. Hard working two-way forward who goes to the dirty areas and mixes things up. He is reliable defensively and that is something that Steve Yzerman loves about his young forwards. He could be the next Kucherov or Palat with his ability to work hard and show great goal scoring capability as well.. Left Wing. Swift Current (WHL). Jake Debrusk. 28. player. 23

29. Philadelphia Flyers (from Tampa Bay Lightning)

29. player. 68. Carlsson is a total defensive blue liner. Philly took a forward with their earlier pick and now they will find an elite shutdown guy who can make an impact with his size. He use his long reach to his advantage and it helps his positioning as well. He can be an impact big bodied defensmen for Philly.. Defense. Linkoping (Swe-J20). Gabriel Carlsson

30. Arizona Coyotes (from Chicago Blackhawks)

121. Arizona (Not sure how much longer we will refer to this team as Arizona) already took a center with the 3rd pick but they need to select the best player on the board with the final pick of the first round. Jansen Harkins is another center who will fit nicely into the Coyotes future plans wherver that may be happening. Plays well in all three zones and works hard, something the Coyotes can build off of in the future.. Center. Prince George (WHL). Jansen Harkins. 30. player
