Good day, Anaheim Ducks fans! The All-Star weekend is completed, with Team Toews prevailing over Team Foligno 17-12 in the actual All-Star Game. Now, the players return to their respective teams and prepare to resume the NHL season. The Ducks have traveled to Vancouver to begin a quick two-game West Coast road-trip, beginning in Vancouver against the Canucks on Tuesday.
A slew of injury news came out, with key players such as Kyle Okposo, Evgeni Malkin, Sergei Bobrovsky, Dion Phaneuf, and Erik Johnson out. Fortunately, the Ducks seem to be trending in the opposite direction, with Frederik Andersen seemingly better from his bout with the flu and Clayton Stoner has returned to practice from a lower-body injury that caused him to miss the team’s final game before the All-Star Break against the Calgary Flames. Eric Brewer has resumed skating with the team, resulting in the team waiving defenseman Mark Fistric.
The playoff pushes start now. The Ducks have set themselves up nicely, with a 31-10-6 record and a league-leading 68 points in the standings. The goal is to clinch a playoff berth and get in the habit of playing well before the new season begins. It’s going to be a terrific journey until the end of the regular season. Buckle up: it’s going to be a wild time.
Injury news aren’t the only things to come out of the league. Here are some Ducks and NHL news for the day.
