Good day, Anaheim Ducks fans! The All-Star weekend concludes with the All-Star Game. Team Foligno topped Team Toews in the All-Star Skills Competition on Saturday 25-19, backed by a 6-0 and 10-1 start. The players put on a show, from incredible passing by Ryan Getzlaf, stickhandling by Filip Forsberg and Oliver Ekman-Larsson, and a missile of a slapshot from Shea Weber (108.5 mph: nobody’s blocking that willingly).
Now, the actual game comes. It should be an incredibly high-scoring affair, with all the offensive firepower and puck-moving ability on both teams. For fans of structured, tight games (like me), this probably is time to avert the eyes. But there’s going to be tons of skill on display, and the players are going to put on a show that probably won’t disappoint. Hopefully, Getzlaf gets Team Toews on the scoresheet and helps lead the team to victory.
Each team’s three goalies will play one period. It will start with Roberto Luongo and Carey Price for Team Toews and Team Foligno, respectively. In the second period, Corey Crawford and Marc-Andre Fleury will go. Jaroslav Halak and Brian Elliott will close the game out for their respective teams. Another injury has struck Team Toews, as Tyler Johnson will not participate with a lower-body injury. Johnny Gaudreau will replace him in the game (though why Sidney Crosby couldn’t get a replacement still baffles me. I guess it’s so that there would be an even number of rookies for the Skills Competition).
Here are some Ducks and NHL news to conclude the weekend.
