Anaheim Ducks Daily Links: Avoid Playing with Fire

Good day, Anaheim Ducks fans! It’s the third and final off-day before the Ducks play their tenth and final game of this Southern California stretch. The Calgary Flames have found a groove, winning their first four games of this five-game road trip. Joni Ortio has been terrific, going 4-0-0 on the trip with a 1.23 GAA and .958 SV%, along with one shutout. Barring a miracle, he should be the starter in net when the Ducks welcome the Flames to Honda Center on Wednesday for the third meeting between the clubs this season.

The Flames are currently clinging on to the final playoff spot after defeating the Los Angeles Kings in overtime last night on a Dennis Wideman goal. The win puts the Flames a point ahead of the Kings. The Ducks, on the other hand, lead the NHL with 66 points. Like the Flames, the Ducks have won four straight games, with a pair of four-goal wins sandwiched between two shootout victories. The Ducks may have a lot of standings points, but this isn’t the time to get comfortable. Calgary is a hungry team, looking to take a major step forward and make the playoffs after a reshaping of the organization.

Plenty of action happened in the NHL as well, so here are some Ducks and NHL news for the day.
