Anaheim Ducks Morning Links: Closing in on the All-Star Game

Good morning, Anaheim Ducks fans! The Ducks prevailed in a quick turnaround and travel to Staples Center, winning their fourth straight game in a 3-2 shootout over the Los Angeles Kings. The victory spoiled a special night for the Kings, who retired the jersey of Rob Blake, who serves as an assistant general manager for Los Angeles.

The Ducks improved their record in one-goal games to 22-0-6, as Jakob Silfverberg scored the lone-goal in the shootout. Silfverberg now is 12 for 21 in his career in the shootout and has converted seven of 11 attempts in the shootout this season (63.6%). His seven shootout goals leads the NHL (Kyle Okposo and Matt Duchene are next, with five). His 11 shootout attempts also leads the NHL (Jussi Jokinen is next, with 10).

The Ducks return to Honda Center for their tenth consecutive game in Southern California before the NHL All-Star Break. Ryan Getzlaf is the team’s lone representative at the event. The Ducks’ next game is Wednesday, when the Calgary Flames come visit Honda Center for the teams’ third meeting of the season. The teams have traded one-goal victories, with the Flames winning 4-3 in a shootout on November 18th and the Ducks winning 3-2 on November 25th.

As always, there were plenty of happenings across the league. Here are some Ducks and NHL news to get the morning started.
