William Karlsson netted his second goal in as many games for the Ducks as he took a pass from a sprawling Nic Kerdiles and fired it top shelf over Sharks netminder Troy Grosenick to put Anaheim up 1-0 early in the first period.
First round draft pick (2014) Nick Ritchie would add to the lead with a power play goal midway through the second period as he redirected a Karlsson shot from the point into the back of the net. Ritchie, 18, sealed the first Futures Game on Saturday night as he nailed his shootout attempt to give Anaheim the win.
Igor Bobkov stood tall in net as he pitched a shutout by saving all 29 shots he faced.
Despite both teams having plenty of power play opportunities, neither squad was able make much of it. Anaheim converted on only one of its’ six chances while San Jose failed to get anything going with its’ special teams.
The Ducks finish 2-0 in the two Futures Games and will begin their preseason slate on Sept. 22 against the Colorado Avalanche.
