Mark your calendars, Ducks Nation! The Anaheim Ducks will battle it out in their home opener against their Pacific Division foes, the Arizona Coyotes, on October 3rd.

The wait is over and it’s time to mark your calendars. The NHL has announced the home opener for all 31 NHL clubs, and the Anaheim Ducks will meet their Pacific Division rivals, the Arizona Coyotes, in the faceoff circle on Thursday, October 3rd. Per-usual, the puck drops at 7:00 pm PST.

While we will get a small glimpse of how the Anaheim Ducks perform under a new coach, with new players, and a new system, this Thursday night game against the Arizona Coyotes will give us a better look at the team and how they’re dealing with the re-tool. The roster will be more concrete and Dallas Eakins will have the opportunity to show how he stands up under the pressure of the regular season.

More from Ducks News

During their 5 game regular season series last season, the Arizona Coyotes came out on top, winning 3 of the 5 contests against the Anaheim Ducks. While the Yotes aren’t even close to being one of the Ducks fiercest competitors, opening up the season on a good note, and against a Pacific Division rival, will do wonders for the team’s confidence as a whole while they learn to navigate these new and uncharted waters of a retool together.

They will be pitted against players like Clayton Keller, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, and Alex Galchenyuk. This will be the perfect game for Anaheim to get their feet wet. While Arizona may not be the best team in the league, they were still on the cusp of making the playoffs last season despite all of the nasty injuries their team suffered throughout the season, which is far better than what the Anaheim Ducks were capable of last season.

The full 2019-20 schedule is set to be released on Tuesday, June 25th at 9 am PST. This is likely going to be another season full of up’s and down’s as the Ducks adjust to a new way of thinking. It could take them a few weeks or months to find their groove. There is also the likelihood that a new coach and a few changes could very well be just the change they needed to get back to their winning ways. However, despite the outcome, we’re in it for the long haul.

The offseason will welcome new faces and a fresh perspective. We’re less than a week into the offseason, and the anticipation is already at 100% for opening day of hockey! Before we know it, the Anaheim Ducks will be back on the ice and, hopefully, on the hunt for a spot in the playoffs, and the path to the playoffs starts with Arizona.
