Anaheim Ducks Offensive Woes Can’t Be Blamed oOn Bruce Boudreau

To say the Anaheim Ducks have started this season poorly may be putting things delicately. The Ducks, who have been notorious for extremely fast starts to the season, are off to an 0-3-1 start. And if that wasn’t bad enough they’ve scored 1 goal in those four games combined.

That’s right they have 1 GOAL FOR on the season and will play game number five tonight!

The Ducks are snake bitten beyond what any of the players, coaches and fans have ever seen before. Everyone is at a complete loss for words on what to do to rectify these offensive woes. Following the Ducks most recent loss, 3-0 to the Colorado Avalanche, here’s what Head Coach Bruce Boudreau and goal scorer Corey Perry had to say.

Corey Perry

“On offensive Struggles: It’s something we really haven’t gone through, at least since I’ve been here. It’s tough. We did a lot of good things, but it’s those second opportunities. You have to give credit to them. They blocked a lot of shots. It’s going to break, and when it does, it’s going to feel good.”

Head Coach Bruce Boudreau

“I told the players you have to hang in there. When it gets down to the lowest time, and then you pull out of it, it’s amazing how you turn things around and go the other way. As long as we keep pushing forward and feeling defiant and being mad instead of feeling sorry for ourselves, I think we’ll be OK.”

When things are going wrong people find a scapegoat. Its natural, you want an answer to the problem and when you can’t seem to find one, the blame game starts. The team doesn’t seem to be doing it but following the game I saw a lot of tweets with fans expressing their disdain for Bruce Boudreau.

I saw tweets claiming that he should be fired because he doesn’t know what he’s doing, tweets saying he needs to do his job and claiming that he’s not, tweets saying he is at a complete loss on a solution, and tweets saying that people wouldn’t be surprised if he was fired this morning.

I recognize full well Boudreau’s short-comings, he has his difficulties in the post-season and his line juggling at times is extremely puzzling. But the Ducks inability to score can not be pinned on Boudreau.

Players need to take accountability and it seems like they are. They are saying the right things and now need to do the right things on the ice.

Boudreau has juggled lines at length this season, putting old lines together, trying new combos, and even putting people in higher roles than they deserve, (looking at you Chris Stewart on the 1st line).

Nothing seems to work. Boudreau can’t go out there and put the puck in the net for these guys. I would like someone to suggest a line combo that Boudreau hasn’t tried that would be better and generate all kinds of offense.

And to the people thinking Boudreau should be fired following his comments, what else do you say to the team, shoot more? Crash the net?

I’m sure those things have been said on repeat and it’s just a matter of pucks not finding the back of the net for the Ducks.

The Ducks finally looked to be more in sync last night against Colorado although they didn’t score. I am a firm believer that when the Ducks will finally break through and the goals will come in bunches.

Right now it’s also the matter of everyone gripping their sticks too tight and when one finally goes in the rest of the team will relax and start finding the net like they should be.

It isn’t the start any Ducks player, coach, or fan wanted but this team is too talented and too good for this to continue. They are Cup contenders and will be there in June next year playing for the Cup.

And when they get going it won’t be Boudreau getting all the credit just like he shouldn’t be getting all the blame right now.
