Anaheim Ducks Place Korbinian Holzer On Waivers
The Anaheim Ducks have placed defensemen Korbinian Holzer on waivers. Holzer was acquired from Toronto at last season’s trade deadline.
Placing him on waivers means that other teams around the league have the opportunity to claim Holzer and he would then no longer be a member of the Ducks if that occurs. However, if no team claims Holzer he would then return to the Ducks.

Holzer’s contract is a one-way deal. This means that he cannot be sent to the AHL at convenience, he must clear through waivers first hence the reason behind the Ducks making this move.
So, it is safe to say that if Holzer does clear waivers it is almost certain that the Ducks are going to assign him to AHL San Diego.
This move is directly related to Josh Manson’s play this preseason.
Manson has taken a huge step forward with his game and it has been evidently clear that he is ready to become an everyday NHL defensemen. He’s big, he’s physical and he looks to be more confident with the puck.
He also stood up for a teammate and fought Milan Lucic Monday night, Manson is a gritty guy and it is leaving an impression on Ducks general manager Bob Murray. Manson appears to have won the battle with Holzer for the Ducks 7th defensemen job.
We won’t know until tomorrow whether or not Holzer has cleared waivers, so stay tuned more more updates.
