NHL franchises have returned to the grind of the regular season, with the All-Star weekend concluded. Many teams will resume their NHL schedules tomorrow, including the Anaheim Ducks, who travel to British Columbia to face the Vancouver Canucks.

In the absence of NHL hockey (outside of the All-Star Game), we here have reflected on the season thus far and submitted our mock, personal ballots for the NHL awards. So far, we have released the ballots for the Calder Trophy, Jack Adams Award, Vezina Trophy, and Norris Trophy. Next up is the Selke Trophy, awarded to the league’s best defensive forward.

As always, my ballot is not an official one. These opinions are my own and are subject to change as the season goes on.

Last season, Patrice Bergeron took home his second career Selke Trophy. He did behind winning 1015 faceoffs (most in the NHL). His +38 rating was second in the NHL behind teammate David Krejci. The Boston Bruins were second in the NHL in GAA and first in the Eastern Conference (2.08). Boston also had the eighth-best penalty-kill in the NHL, at 83.6%. All this was a major factor in Boston winning 54 games and the President’s Trophy last season. Bergeron won the award in 2012 as well.

The official Selke ballot has five spots. This ballot will also name five candidates, plus an honorable mention. Here is that honorable mention.
