Anaheim Ducks Morning Links: Maple Leaf Mania

facebooktwitterreddit

Good morning, Anaheim Ducks fans! It’s finally the day for another game for the Ducks, who will be welcoming the Toronto Maple Leafs to Honda Center later in the evening. The Ducks are fresh off a 5-4 thrilling shootout win over the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday, while the Maple Leafs were shutout 2-0 by the Los Angeles Kings to begin their four-game road trip. Toronto has lost eight of its past 11 games and is 1-2-0 since the firing of head coach Randy Carlyle.

Despite the organizational turmoil, the Leafs still have 47 points in the standings, which is good for 10th in the Eastern Conference. They are five points behind the Boston Bruins for the second wild card spot. So, despite the recent tailspin and chaos in Toronto, this is not a game the Ducks can afford to overlook. Emotions are still running high after the retirement ceremony of Teemu Selanne, but the Ducks cannot afford another slow start out of the gate, as they had against Winnipeg on Sunday.

There was plenty that happened across the league yesterday as well. Here are some Ducks and NHL news to get the morning started.
