Anaheim Ducks defenseman Ben Lovejoy suffered a fractured finger in the Ducks’ 4-1 loss to the San Jose Sharks on Sunday night. According to reports, Lovejoy is expected to miss at least 6-8 weeks.
Lovejoy left Sunday’s tilt after a fight with Sharks forward Joe Pavelski. Reports by Sportsnet and NHL Network analyst Kevin Weekes suggested that Lovejoy broke his hand during the tussle, but the Ducks confirmed that the injury was a fractured finger.
Lovejoy, 30, is in his third season in Anaheim after spending the first five years of his NHL career with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Last season, Lovejoy registered a career-high 18 points (five goals, 13 assists) in 78 games. Nine games into the young 2014-15 campaign, Lovejoy has one assist.
