The Anaheim Ducks and the rest of the NHL's teams are now on a three-week break for the Winter Olympics. In a season that has had its ups and its downs, the Ducks entered the break with some positive momentum. However, before the men's hockey tournament begins and we become fully engrossed in national pride, let us pause and look back at some numbers that have stood out from the 56 games of the Ducks 2025-26 season.
Five numbers from the Ducks season
75
As in 75% odds to make the playoffs this season, according to MoneyPuck's latest projections. With a record of 30-23-3 and holding down a playoff spot as the second wild card in the Western Conference, the Ducks have exceeded preseason expectations and have entered best-case scenario territory. Powered by the growth of a young core, that has been insulated with veteran support, the Ducks are in the thick of the playoff race for the first time in years.
-10
The Ducks goal differential at the break. They are one of only two teams with a negative goal differential and in a playoff spot in the Western Conference, with the other team being the Seattle Kraken at -3. The only team in the Eastern Conference with a negative goal differential and in a playoff position at the break, is the Detroit Red Wings with a -1. The Ducks should be grateful the Pacific Division has been relatively weak, compared to the other divisions, as they would not be in such a favorable playoff position.
208
Total amount of shots taken by Cutter Gauthier this season, which puts him at third place in the entire NHL, only behind Connor McDavid (220) and Nathan MacKinnon (244). Gauthier leads the Ducks in goals with 25 and goals per game at 0.45. While he is only shooting at 12%, the sheer volume and power of Gauthier's shots more than makes up for the difference.

17.9
The powerplay percentage for the Ducks, which is ninth worse in the league. And despite fan perception, the Ducks have been averaging an even three powerplay opportunities per game, which is the 13th most in the NHL. The Ducks have just been unable to convert on the man advantage. While recent injuries to their top skaters can be pointed to as a cause for the Ducks powerplay woes, the team has had more than enough finishing talent this season, to be lingering near the bottom of the league.
44
Points from Beckett Sennecke this season, which is second among all NHL rookies. Sennecke went from not even being in consideration for the opening night roster to should being in consideration for the Calder Trophy. Sennecke has been one of the most consistent scorers for the Ducks with 0.79 points per game. The defensive gaffes in his game from earlier in the season have been noticeably lower, while his on-ice deployment and reliability in key moments, have increased. The Ducks have not had a more productive rookie in years, and Sennecke is still only getting better with each game.

That was five numbers: some good and some bad. But a hockey season never follows a truly linear path, as there are peaks and valleys. The Ducks have done well in limiting the bad recently, let's just hope the good continues after the break.
