2. Shea Theodore– Theodore is the next great young defensemen. He is primed to follow in the footsteps of Cam Fowler, Hampus Lindholm, and Sami Vatanen. Theodore is a big defensemen standing at 6’2” 185 pounds and is only 18 years old. He is still going to get bigger and stronger and could be a stud on the Ducks blue-line for many years.

Theodore joined Norfolk at the end of last season when his WHL team the Seattle Thunderbirds season ended. He only has a few games at the AHL level under his belt but like Kerdiles shined at the Ducks most recent development camp. Even if he has a great training camp I believe the Ducks give Vatanen the chance he deserves after his play of last season.

As I mentioned above about Kerdiles forcing Rakell to play great every night Theodore will do the same to Vatanen. Should he slip up Theodore will be the first call-up the Ducks make. Expect to see Theodore if injuries arise or toward the end of the season to give the coaching staff a look at him but, with the log jam the Ducks currently have on defense I would say the chances of seeing him out of the gate aren’t high.
