3. Ducks Roll Past Sharks for Pacific Division Title

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Ducks stormed out of the gate once again and led the division for much of the season.

However, they stumbled toward the finish line and were in a dogfight with the San Jose Sharks for the Pacific Division title. After falling out of first at the end of March, the Ducks and Sharks met in Anaheim on Apr. 9 with the division title on the line.

With rookie goalie John Gibson getting the nod while regular starter Frederik Andersen was out nursing a concussion, the Ducks took out the Sharks in emphatic 5-2 victory at Honda Center.

Patrick Maroon led the charge with his first career multi-goal performance and Gibson stopped 36 of the 38 shots he faced to keep San Jose in check.

The victory gave the Ducks their second consecutive Pacific Division title and on the right track for the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference.
