As stated above Cogliano appeared in all 13 of the Ducks’ post-season games. He picked up one goal and six assists through the post-season and some of those points were big ones.

In Game 2 of the first round against the Dallas Stars, the Ducks were up 2-1 heading into the third period. With the Ducks clinging to a one-goal lead and on the penalty kill, Cogliano fore-checked hard, causing the puck to pop out to Ryan Getzlaf high in the zone. While the Stars converged upon  Getzlaf, Cogliano snuck back out from behind the net, received a pass from Getzlaf, and roofed a short side snap shot to give the Ducks a two-goal cushion. His goal would ultimately be the game-winner.

One of his six assists was also key in the first round. In Game 5 with the series knotted at 2-2, Cogliano would once again come up big late. Up 3-2 coming into the third period, the Ducks needed to set the tone for the period to take a pivotal Game 5. The fore-check prowess of Cogliano showed up again as he beat three Dallas defenders to a dump in and made a quick strike to Jakob Silfverberg for a 4-2 lead that would culminate into a 6-2 Ducks win.

Cogliano was a little quieter in the second round against the Los Angeles Kings as he only accounted for three assists, but he didn’t make any glaring mistakes that cost Anaheim games.
