Tim Sweeney

The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 1-0 thanks to a goal by left-winger Tim Sweeney.

Sweeney played in 78 games that season, contributing 16 goals and adding 27 assists. The 43-point output in the Mighty Ducks inaugural season would be Sweeney’s career-high.

After the 1993-1994 season, Sweeney played one more year in Anaheim before stints with the Boston Bruins and New York Rangers.

The Calgary Flames drafted Sweeney in the sixth round of the 1985 NHL Entry Draft. Before his NHL career began, Sweeney played college hockey at Boston College. Following his career with the Eagles, Sweeney won the Ken McKenzie Trophy for Rookie of the Year while playing for the Salt Lake Golden Eagles of the IHL.

Sweeney finished his NHL career with 291 games played, 55 goals and 83 assists for 138 points.
