In the aftermath of the Bobby Ryan trade, the Anaheim Ducks and Saku Koivu agreed to a one-year contract extension for the 38-year-old. According to some Ducks fans, this was the best news of the day. Well, you guys know how I feel about the Bobby trade, so, the resigning of Koivu is not the best news of the day. Don’t get me wrong, I do like having Koivu for another year. He was very good for the Ducks last season. He racked up 8 goals and 19 assists for 27 points in 47 games. He was key for the Ducks in the faceoff circle winning 51.4% of his faceoffs. Now that the Ducks have resigned one of their alternate captains. The waiting game continues for their other alternate captain. You know, that Teemu Selanne guy. He’s pretty solid and I think Ducks fans will be content in having him back for one more year.
