Celebrity cameos were abundant in the first round of the 2025 NHL Draft, but two of the more notable appearances came from hockey film royalty. Charlie Conway (Joshua Jackson) and Connie Moreau (Marguerite Moreau) took the stage to help the Anaheim Ducks make their selection at 10th overall.
The original Mighty Ducks announced the Brandon Wheat Kings' Roger McQueen as the newest member of the organization. The immediate reaction from many online felt the pick was very appropriate for the Disney theme. Going even further, McQueen and his family are heading to Disneyland tonight.

With the No. 10 pick, the Anaheim Ducks select 6-foot-5 center Roger McQueen.
At the Combine, the big but speedy pivot man compared his game to Ryan Getzlaf. How accurate that is, hard to know, but it'd be a dream for Anaheim.@SportingTrib | #FlyTogether pic.twitter.com/DI7mdbFR11
With an elite shot, McQueen adds incredible offense to an improving team
All Disney jokes aside, the immediate reaction appears that McQueen falling to #10 could be great value for the Ducks. After trading Trevor Zegras to the Flyers earlier in the week, drafting McQueen is an excellent way to replenish the Ducks' offensive pool, even after missing most of the season with a lower-back injury.
Injury concerns must've been the biggest reason teams above Anaheim passed on him because there's a good chance McQueen could be the best offensive player in the draft. When he was in the lineup this season, he was over a point-per-game, scoring ten goals and 20 points in 17 contests. He was as high as #5 on several draft boards.
Along with his sniper-like precision, McQueen can play a heavy game, too. Elite Prospects ranks him as the second-best power forward in the draft class. He sports a high hockey IQ, incredible playmaking, and a solid transition game. This could prove to be one of the best picks of the first round, cushioning what he been a tough week on the pond.
