Ducks vs Capitals: Betting Odds, Fantasy, Focusing on Victory
For the second time this season, the Anaheim Ducks take on the Washington Capitals. After their last meeting, this is a rematch to get excited about.
Last time the Anaheim Ducks faced off against the Washington Capitals we witnessed sucker punches, fights, and spitting. The anger that fueled both teams was both intense and exhilarating to watch. With both teams back on the ice tonight, this is going to be a rematch you don’t want to miss.
While one might expect the two teams are looking for revenge after the infamous “spitting incident”, it would seem to be the opposite for the Anaheim Ducks. We cannot speak for the Capitals, but Head Coach Dallas Eakins has made it clear that his team is focused on one thing tonight, and one thing only: the two points that are on the line.
“The leauge dealt with it. Our main concern is two points we need desperately. Nothing else. Our message (to the players) will be: our only concern is two points. What you don’t want to happen is to go out and have (Hathaway) suck you into a penalty and out comes that power play of theirs.” –Head Coach Dallas Eakins
Victory is their main goal tonight. Of course, don’t be surprised if there’s some chirping between the two teams or even if the gloves come off. But, the team is determined not to let the Capitals get the best of them. Hopefully, Eakins has been addressing the team’s other issues in practice, much like he’s been addressing special teams as of late, so the Anaheim Ducks might be able to grab the offensive edge over their opponents.

Anaheim Ducks Betting Odds & Lines
Anaheim Ducks: +130
Washington Capitals: -150
According to our friends at the Action Network, the Washington Capitals are -150 on the Moneyline tonight. As the team that currently has the best record in the NHL, it is no surprise that they are tonight’s favorite to win. Their last matchup didn’t end well. Both teams let their anger get the best of them, and in the long run, it hurt the Ducks. Their inability to produce offense left them defeated in a 5-2 game.
Nevertheless, as we always say, don’t count the Anaheim Ducks out. While they are clearly the underdog in this situation, leave it to a team like the Ducks to knock Washington off their high horse. They did it with the Islanders, so why not the Caps? If they can manage their anger and let it be what motivates them tonight, as well as generate some decent offense, they might give the Caps a run for their money.
Weather Forecast
According to The Weather Channel, it’s supposed to rain today in Orange County if it hasn’t started already. We’d suggest leaving a little earlier than you planned if you’re attending the game tonight to avoid traffic. Temperatures are supposed to be mild, with a low of 56º. It would be a wise decision to bring a raincoat or something to keep you dry and warm.
Fantasy Hockey
If you’re wondering which Anaheim Ducks to start and which to sit on your bench to maximize your point totals in Fantasy tonight, we have a few suggestions. Surprisingly, Derek Grant might be a player you should consider starting tonight. While he has been a little inconsistent when it comes to scoring, so has the rest of the team. However, Grant had a really good game against the Los Angeles Kings on Monday, accumulating 7 points on ESPN and 21 on Yahoo! Hopefully, that momentum will carry into tonight’s game against the Washington Capitals and give you the upper hand against your opponent.
One player we would suggest you sit is Max Jones, and for obvious reasons. If you have him on your fantasy team, you were taking a gamble on him in the first place, as his place on the roster was not guaranteed. In light of the news that he has been sent down to San Diego, we would sit him for the time being. Another player on the current roster we might suggest you sit is Brendan Guhle. He’s still getting the hang of things since coming back from injury and playing alongside Korbinian Holzer hasn’t helped his case. He’s accumulated a total of 1 point on Yahoo! and 0 points on ESPN in the past 7 days.
