We’ve survived the summer, and before we know it, September will also be gone. As of Thursday, only 26 days stood between the Anaheim Ducks and the 2018-19 season opener.

The start of the 2018-19 season is being met with a lot of anticipation. The slate of last season has been wiped clean, and each team has been given the chance at a fresh start. The fate of the new season is currently unknown, but I’m sure the Anaheim Ducks, like all of Ducks Nation, is hoping that this season starts off a lot better than it did last year.

Despite all of the obstacles the Anaheim Ducks had to jump over during the 2017-18 season, there was still a lot of good to come out of it. Adam Henrique was acquired by Anaheim during a mid-season trade with New Jersey. The addition of the 28-year-old center revived the floundering team. John Gibson also had a phenomenal year, keeping the Ducks afloat most of the season.

However, there were two young players who had an outstanding break out season. The 2017-18 season was the sophomore season for both Brandon Montour and Ondrej Kase. Despite only having one season of prior NHL experience, the Anaheim Ducks had no other choice than to rely on the two of them. All of the injuries that coincided with the 2017-18 season thrust Montour and Kase into more prominent roles on the team.

They both took their new roles in stride during the 2017-18 season. All of their hard worked earned each of them a new contract extension over the summer. Today we will take a look at the 2017-18 season highlights and accomplishments of defenseman Brandon Montour.
