The Ducks defenseman could miss between two to five weeks of action.
The Anaheim Ducks just announced that veteran defenseman Kevin Bieksa will be out of the lineup anywhere between the next two to five weeks. He needs surgery to remove scar tissue from his hand.
I can tell you from personal experience that a build-up of scar tissue is both painful and annoying. Among professional athletes, this type of procedure is most common in pitchers months after elbow or shoulder surgery.
The Ducks have recalled Korbinian Holzer to take #3’s spot on the roster. Expect Anaheim to use Marcus Pettersson and Francois Beauchemin as the third defensive pair, until Bieksa returns. As a result, Holzer will spend most of his time with the team watching games from the press box.
