The Anaheim Ducks come away with a crucial two points from their rival, Los Angeles Kings.
This may be shaping up to be one of the best hockey rivalries. It’s must watch tv everytime these two teams play each other.
Anaheim is now tied for second place in the Pacific Division with the Edmonton Oilers. They are 12-3-4 against division opponents this season.
Miller Time:
In tonight’s pre-game show, the Anaheim Ducks broadcast showed a feature of Bob Miller talking about the rivalry. In addition to how he made a joke about Anaheim in the beginning.
Which was great to see and just makes you realize how fortunate Los Angeles has been in terms of successful sports franchises and iconic broadcasters.
Bob Miller is one of those guys that you just can’t hate, because he makes great unbiased calls.
As was the case with the Dodgers longtime and now retired Vin Scully. Who had the innate ability to make the ordinary sound extraordinary.
The hall-of-famer has not been in the air the past seven games after suffering a mild stroke last month.
So I wish a speedy recovery to a man passionate about the sport of hockey as much as us fans.
Bread And Butter:
Ryan Getzlaf often gets criticized for not shooting the puck more. But his play-making abilities make him bank, reminding us of that in the second period.
He found Josh Manson crashing the net, sneaking past the Kings defense for the lone goal.
The goal was his second goal of the season, snapping a 28-game goalless streak.
As Advertised:
The Anaheim Ducks had a game plan and executed. This is why the Cogliano-Kesler-Silfverberg line stayed together, to size up Los Angeles to the best of their ability.
While Nick Ritchie, Anaheim’s hits leader, was paired up with Ryan Getzlaf and Ondrej Kase.
Knowing Los Angeles were tired after playing the night before, the Ducks hit early and often. Engaging in a lot of puck battles along the boards.
Next: Anaheim Needs To Utilize Corey Tropp
Anaheim delivered 39 hits on the night, compared to LA’s 21.
