Griffin Foster’s Right Wing Rankings:

#1 RW – Stefan Noesen

Noesen is a former Ottawa Senators first round pick and was acquired in the Bobby Ryan trade along with Jakob Silfverberg and a draft pick that eventually turned into Nick Ritchie. After battling back from a serious knee and achilles injury, Noesen seems to be finding his game again. He put up 2 goals and an assist in the first scrimmage over the weekend and was noticeable almost every shift. He is a great skater who has some good offensive skill. He appeared in his first NHL game late last season and will certainly challenge for a roster spot during training camp. He could fill a void at wing for the Ducks with his size, speed and skill.

#2 RW – Nick Sorensen

Sorensen is an interesting prospect simply because we have not seen him play at the AHL level yet. He was better than a point per game guy for the past two seasons in the QMJHL and if he carries that kind of production to San Diego, he could be apart of the future plans for the Ducks. He had a solid showing at the scrimmages over the weekend and made a few impressive offensive plays that caught my eye. He could join fellow Denmark native Freddie Andersen soon if he continues to show an elite offensive skill set.

#3 RW – Deven Sideroff

Sideroff was a third round pick in this years draft and took part in both camp scrimmages. He flew under the radar for most of the scrimmages and did not make any  real impressions. He could be a long term project. Time will tell with Sideroff.

#4 RW – Ondrej Kase

Kase was just recently given his entry level deal and could be playing for San Diego this upcoming season. He is another guy who nobody really knows a whole lot about as he has spent the majority of his time playing in the Czech Republic. The stats don;t really say much so he is another wait and see type of prospect but the reports and videos suggest he could turn out to be a late round steal as the Ducks snatched him up in the 7th round of the 2014 draft.

#5 RW – Grant Besse

Besse is a guy who primarily plays left wing but the Ducks are loaded with high end left wing prospects so I threw Besse into the right wing mix to fill out my top 5. He just finished his first season in Madison playing with the Wisconsin Badgers. He was a late round pick by the Ducks in the 2013 draft and is another wait and see prospect. He made some good plays at the camp scrimmages but was not overly impressive.

Chris Bushell’s Right Wing Rankings:

#1 RW – Stefan Noesen

“Noesen was a part of the Bobby Ryan trade and has been mired by injuries since he arrived. He played in one game for the Ducks last year and it looks like he could threaten to take a spot this year. He racked up points in the OHL for the Plymouth Whalers and has put up good numbers in his limited AHL games. He is a big body at 6’2” 205 so perfect size for today’s NHL. His big issue is only appearing in 30 games between AHL and NHL in the last two seasons. If he can stay healthy look for him opening night.”

#2 RW – Nick Sorensen

“Sorensen is rugged winger who has played the last two seasons for Quebec in CHL and for Sweden’s U20 WJ team. He has put up good numbers for each and may be another year away from breaking into the NHL. Sorensen is a good player who is admired for his fore-checking ability and good release of his shot. Both tools you need to succeed in the NHL and if he adds some more bulk to his frame he could be a nightmare for opponents.”

#3 RW – Ondrej Kase

“Kase is a former 7th round pick of the Ducks and has been playing in his native Czech Republic since. He has put up good numbers there and is stated as a “natural play maker” and a “slick, speedy, driven winger” by eliteprospects. 7th round picks don’t always amount to much but Kase may turn out to be the exception. He is coming to North America next season and slated to play with the Ducks new AHL affiliate in San Diego. His only knock is that he is a bit undersized but we’ll get to see how he adapts to the North American style of play.”

#4 RW – Grant Besse

“Besse is another on a long list of prospects the Ducks have in college. Besse is currently playing for the University of Wisconsin and will be a junior this coming season. He has 34 points in 68 collegiate games playing for a Badgers team that was one of the worst in college hockey last year. Wisconsin is usually a top tier team so expect them back and Besse could be a reason they are. A good year in college and it wouldn’t be unheard of for him to be with San Diego next spring.”

#5 RW – Deven Sideroff

“It’s never a bad thing to get drafted and then placed high right away on a depth chart. Sideroff has done that and looks to be a good pick for the Ducks. He played his first full season in the WHL last year and put up 42 points, not bad for an 18 year old. He will be back there next year and given time to grow and mature. Some prolific scorers have come from the WHL and Sideroff could be another.”
