Rumors concerning the promising goaltender were addressed by Anaheim’s GM, and then some!
When the news broke early Saturday morning that the Anaheim Ducks had traded James Wisniewski to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for goaltender Anton Khudobin, the following Tweet pretty much summed up what every Ducks fans was thinking:
The fear that Anaheim would trade John Gibson is understandable – after all, both Frederik Andersen and Khudobin are proven NHL goalies, while Gibson still is not – but not all that realistic. After all, the organization has made it pretty clear that it has high hopes for Gibson, and it’s not like Gibson has a huge contract that he Ducks want to shed in order to go after a big-name free agent – he is set to make $685,000 on 2015-2016, and will only generate a cap hit of $721,666.
Still, rumors persisted long enough Saturday that Ducks GM Bob Murray felt the need to address them:
Hold on, Pierre! That’s not QUITE what Murray had to say:
"John Gibson is not getting traded … put that (bleeping) out there."
Now THAT’S more like it!
Granted, we must take whatever Murray has to say with a grain of salt; after all, he was responding specifically to rumors that were popping up on Twitter – you know, the place where everyone has inside information and no one has an IQ higher than the amount of characters you can use in a Tweet. Zing!
Still, it stands to reason that John Gibson is not going anywhere any time soon.
Freddie Andersen, on the other hand . . . but enough speculation for now.
