Anaheim Ducks on the Verge of Adding Paul MacLean to Coaching Staff

Can The Walrus be what the Ducks need to get over the playoff hump?

Draft day is off to a good start for the Anaheim Ducks, everyone!

The more cynical – could it be realistic? – of us see the Ducks’ hiring MacLean as an insurance policy: should Bruce Boudreau fail to get results this season, the Anaheim Ducks already have a head coach candidate sitting on the bench to replace him.

Be that as it may, the addition of MacLean to the staff can only be seen as a good things for the Ducks.  MacLean compiled a 114-90-35 record with the Ottawa Senators, and won the Jack Adam award as the NHL Coach of the Year in 2013 after leading the Sens to a 25-17-6 record during the shortened season.

When MacLean was fired by the Senators in December, the majority of Ottawa fans took to message boards slamming the decision as being too hasty.  Ottawa’s loss is Anaheim’s gain, though!

Make sure you let us know what you think of the possibility of MacLean joining the Anaheim Ducks heading into the 2015-2016 season!
