The Draft begins this coming Friday so here at Pucks of a Feather we are presenting our mock draft. You can find picks 1-10 done by clicking on the button at the bottom of this post!

I will be taking a look at picks 11-20 followed by fellow staff writer Griff wrapping up picks 21-30. Make sure to comment and tweet us your thoughts and opinions. Let’s see how accurate we can be!

87. Florida has a deep prospect pool at center with the likes of Aleksander Barkov and Nick Bjugstad already in Sunrise and with Kyle Rau, Vincent Trocheck, and Rocco Grimaldi knocking at the door for NHL jobs in the coming years. The Panthers are also deep on the blue line with Aaron Ekblad and Erik Gudbranson and have Michael Matheson, Ian Mchosen challenging for spots. Where they are weak is wing and at this point the best wing is without a doubt Timo Meier. Meier is a big, physical forward who can put the puck in the net as based on his 90 points in playing 61 games for Halifax this season. Can be dangerous in the offensive zone and also is a stout defensive player which you need in this NHL with so many offensive defensemen. Although he may not be in Florida next season a future that has Meier on a line with the likes of Barkov could give Florida a great young 1-2 punch.. Right Wing. Halifax (QMJHL). Timo Meier. 11. player

119. The Stars have top end talent up front in the likes of Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin. Their issue is keeping the puck out of their own net and they’ll try to rectify that in taking Roy here. Roy could be gone at this point but if he’s still on the board the Stars would be foolish to not take him. Roy was almost a point per game player in his first season in the QMJHL. He put up 43 points in 46 games and added 4 points while playing in 7 games for Canada in the World Juniors. Roy is undersized but only 18 and will most likely be in juniors another year or so. The Stars had good luck taking a young defenseman a few years ago in selecting Jamie Oleksiak out of Northeastern University and could strike gold again in Roy.. Defense. Sherbrooke (QMJHL). Jeremy Roy. 12. player

Center. Sarnia (OHL). Pavel Zacha. 13. player. 67. The Kings are deep down the middle which has contributed to their playoff success. Anze Kopitar and Jeff Carter are an enviable 1-2 but with Mike Richards most likely on his way out and Jarrett Stoll maybe signing elsewhere causing young Kings prospects to get the call up. They will need to replenish their prospect pool and Zacha does just that. Zacha is a few years away but the Kings won’t rush him along. He is a big kid at 6’3” 212 and only 18 so he could be a force at the NHL level. In his first season with Sarnia he put up good numbers with a line of 16-18-34 in 37 games. Zacha will most likely be back in Sarnia next season and if his dynamic skill shows through to his full potential the Kings may have found quite a weapon.

70. There’s a lot of Patrice Bergeron in Kyle Conner’s game. The Bruins are in desperate need of offense and Kyle Conner can bring that to them. Conner is a two way player that the Bruins pride themselves on. He is a force in all three zones and while has great defensive abilities he is no slouch on offense either. He put up 80 points in 56 games for Youngstown this past season and is set to begin his colligate career at the University of Michigan next season. Conner will not be in Boston next season but could push current players sooner rather than later.. It’s not unheard of for players to only play one year of college hockey and if he has a big year for the Wolverines you could see Conner in the black and gold to start the 16-17 season.. Left Wing/Center. Youngstown (USHL). Kyle Connor. 14. player

15. player. 112. Calgary has an All-Star first line but not a ton behind it. Konecny will be able to fix that in the coming years. The undersized Konecny won’t scare off Flames brass as they took Johnny Gaudreau and that worked out well for them. He plays a full 200 foot game and plays leagues above his smaller stature. Konecny has excelled at the junior level as he played in 123 games over the last two years and has posted 138 points. He is a 97 birth year so is very young and could do with some more time in juniors before competing for an NHL spot. He will need to ass muscle and bulk up his frame so as to not get knocked off the puck but that combined with his edge will be a great asset for the Flames. Konecny has drawn comparisons to the likes of Ryan Callahan and could be a great complement behind former 67 Sean Monahan.. Right Wing. Ottawa (OHL). Travis Konecny

Defense. Saint John (QMJHL). Jakub Zboril. 16. player. 148. The Oilers can make out like bandits in this draft. For yet another year they will have the first overall pick and take what many consider the “holy grail” of prospects in Connor McDavid. They cant pass on McDavid but the Oilers have tons of young forward talent and still keep getting the first overall pick. Their problems exist on defense and goaltending and adding Zboril mid-way through the first round can help that. The Oilers have a spotty d-core at best and their two best prospects Darnell Nurse and Oscar Klefbom are still trying to find their way. Last season was his first season in North America after coming over from the Czech Republic and he put up 33 points in 44 games. Good numbers for his first season but he is most likely not NHL ready. But another year or two getting to know the game here and putting up points like that and the Oilers will have selected two studs in the top 16 of the draft.

player. 30. Merkley is another could be gone before here player but if he isn’t the Jets should jump at the chance. He is slightly undersized at 5’10” but you wouldn’t know it by the way he plays. Merkley is a gritty and tenacious player which fits in with the style the Jets try to play. The Jets are a big bodied griup that likes to throw their weight around but could use some more scoring depth. The Western Conference is a gauntlet and to compete with the big guns the Jets need to be able to keep up in the scoring race. Merkely will be able to help there down the road.. Center/Right Wing. Kelowna (WHL). Nick Merkley. 17

Colin White. 18. player. 91. The Senators are a young bunch and went on a tremendous run to get into the playoffs last season. They flamed out but should be back and competeing again next season. Where they are young this means they can take a player that may be a few years before hes competing for a job. Colin White fits that description. White was a point per game player with the USNDT and is exceptional at puck possession and skating ability. White is headed to Boston College next season so he wont be competing for a job in Ottawa. Expect White to spend at least a couple years if not the next four at BC but when he leaves the Senators will have found a great three zone player.. Center. USA NTDP (USHL)

Farjestad (SHL). Oliver Kylington. 20. player. 98. The Wild made a huge splash a few years ago signing free agents Zach Parise and Ryan Suter to monster contracts. They have also brought in good young talent in Charlie Coyle and Nino Niederreiter and drafted Matt Dumba but it hasn’t translated to playoff success. The Wild need to add to a thin blue line and Oliver Kylington can help. The Swedish defenseman is slightly undersized but has great hockey IQ and put up solid numbers in the Swedish elite leagues and playing for Team Sweden in the World Juniors. Kylington can also quarterback a poweplay which could one day be a great force with Dumba on the opposite point. Kylington is confirmed to stay in Sweden next season but the Wild cant pass on him at this point.. Defense
