Freddie Is Proving Himself

Many people were ready to give Winnipeg the edge in goal for round 1. Freddie Andersen showed them what he can do when he is on his game. With a team like the Ducks, a dominant performance from a goalie is not necessary every single night. Freddie Andersen was not spectacular in all four games, but he gave his team a chance to win with some incredible saves and maturity.

  • In game 3 the Ducks were trying to tie the game late in the third and Freddie stood on his head to keep it a one goal game. After Kesler tied the game the Jets went on a power play with under two minutes to go. Freddie made an un believable save and allowed the Ducks the chance to win in overtime. Guess what, they won the game on a Rakell overtime goal. Freddie didn’t need to win the game for the Ducks, he just needed to give them a chance to end it in overtime.

    Erase The Question Mark

It is almost funny that the Ducks were said to have the biggest question mark in goal heading into the playoffs. Chicago and Vancouver have both made goaltending changes and it seems as though the Freddie Andersen critics are in hiding for the time being with so much goalie drama surrounding other teams.

Freddie went into arguably the loudest building and won both games. The question mark should be erased after his game four performance at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg. If any team is under the belief that they will beat Anaheim because of their goaltending issues, they should re consider. Freddie Andersen is proving himself and other teams should be concerned. Freddie Andersen is positionally sound and exulting maturity that will give the Ducks the opportunity beat anyone anywhere.
