Following the aftermath of the March 2nd NHL trade deadline, teams are left looking different, with the flurry of deals throughout the week. The first move the Anaheim Ducks made at the deadline involved the acquisition of rookie Czech winger Jiri Sekac from the Montreal Canadiens for Devante Smith-Pelly on Tuesday.

The move gave up one of the Ducks’ gritty wingers, a type of player that they had a surplus of, in exchange for a more skilled player (which the Ducks lacked, especially at left-wing, where Emerson Etem is arguably the only skilled player at the position). The swap was player-for-player, giving both teams a young player with room to grow and multiple years of team control (Smith-Pelly with three and Sekac with five).

However, the Ducks would not stop there, acquiring another Czech left-winger just four days later. On Saturday, the Ducks acquired veteran winger Tomas Fleischmann from the Florida Panthers for veteran winger Dany Heatley and a 2015 3rd round pick.
