Second Star: Patrick Maroon, LW (1 A, 1 SOG, 16:38 TOI)

Maroon was arguably the best player on the ice for either team tonight. The big winger was an absolute force on just about every shift he took: it seemed the Ducks controlled the puck and were making plays happen in the offensive zone with him out there. He created turnovers and won individual puck battles every time he was on the ice.

While his scoring numbers should increase in a top-six role and playing with either Getzlaf or Kesler, Maroon helps his two centermen out as well, retrieving pucks and using his big body to win in the corners and dirty areas. Maroon had a tremendous outing playing on the top line with Getzlaf and Perry. If he keeps this up, then Dany Heatley will have to earn his spot on that line back.
