Strengths:

Patrick Maroon is a gigantic player in stature: he possesses a big body and knows how to use it on the ice. He loves to hit and dish out punishment with his frame: if it moves, he will look to hit it. For a big man, Maroon has soft hands: they are huge assets for Maroon as both a playmaker and passer, especially down low. The passing is an underrated and often overlooked asset of his game: Maroon can create scoring chances for his linemates by combining the passing ability with his good ice vision.  He is starting to provide offense with more ice time at the NHL level; Maroon has good offensive instincts. He’s a viable option on the power play as well: can work the half-wall, but Maroon can also utilize his 6’3 frame as a screener in front of the net. Maroon is also capable of agitating foes and is always willing to get testy and fight. Despite the penalty minute totals and willingness to drop the gloves, Maroon has the skills to be more than just an enforcer in the NHL.
