Poll: NHL Awards Finalists 2014

On Tuesday, June 24, the hockey world will turn its’ eyes to Las Vegas where the NHL Awards show will take place.

Big names stars such as Sidney Crosby,  Ryan Getzlaf, and Zdeno Chara are all up for awards and likely will take home some hardware.

Who should win each award?

Here are the NHL Awards Finalists for 2014.

Hart Memorial Trophy (Given to the player judged to be the most valuable to his team)

Previous Winner: Alex Ovechkin – WSH

Calder Memorial Trophy (Given to the player selected the most proficient in his first year of competition in the NHL)

Previous Winner: Jonathan Huberdeau – FLA

James Norris Memorial Trophy (Given to the defenseman who demonstrates the greatest all-around ability in the position)

Previous Winner: P.K. Subban – MTL

Vezina Trophy (Given to the goalkeeper adjudged to be the best at this position)

Previous Winner: Sergei Bobrovsky – CBJ

Ted Lindsay Award (“Most oustanding player” in the NHL as voted by the NHLPA)

Previous Winner: Sidney Crosby – PIT

Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy (Given to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication)

Previous Winner: Josh Harding – MIN

Frank J. Selke Trophy (Given to the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game)

Previous Winner: Jonathan Toews – CHI

Lady Byng Memorial Trophy (Given to the player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with high standard playing ability)

Previous Winner: Martin St. Louis – TBL

Jack Adams Award (Given to the coach adjudged to have contributed the most to his team’s success)

Previous Winner: Paul MacLean – OTT

Mark Messier Leadership Award (Awarded to the player who exemplifies great leadership qualities to his team on and off the ice)

Previous Winner: Daniel Alfredsson – OTT

General Manager of the Year

Previous Winner: Ray Shero – PIT
