Hiller’s only appearances in the first round of the playoffs came in relief performances. His performance in Game 6 helped invigorate the teams comeback.  He stopped some key scoring chances for the Dallas Stars that allowed the Ducks to stay in the game and eventually come back to win.

His performance in Game 6 was good enough to get him the starting role in the second round. Game 1 came down to the wire as Marion Gaborik batted a goal out of mid-air with seven seconds left in regulation. Gaborik won it in overtime off a pass from Kopitar.

In Game 2 Hiller only gave up two goals, but was outplayed by Jonathan Quick who only gave up one. After that, the distrust of the coaching staff became crystal clear as Andersen and Gibson would start the next five games leaving Hiller as the back up again.

Hiller was a true professional and remained humble and focused through all this. Whenever Boudreau called upon him to play, Hiller always brought his A game, no matter what the situation was.
