According to a ranking in the latest edition of The Hockey News magazine, the Anaheim Ducks have the 13th best franchise in the NHL.
The rankings were based on the following 10 categories. The Ducks’ scores in each category are in bold.
1. Front Office Continuity – Total number of coaches and GMs employed the past five years. Two gets a team 10 points, three gets eight, four gets five, five gets three, six gets one.

2. Franchise Value – Based on Forbes’ numbers. The top three teams received 10 points, the next three nine points and so on.
Score: 4
3. Fenwick Close – On-ice measurement of shots directed at the net, including missed (but not blocked) versus those given up in a game that is within one goal during the first and second period or tied during the third and overtime. Top three teams received 10 points, the next three nine points and so on.
Score: 5
4. Future Watch Ranking – Top three teams receive 10 points, the next three nine points and so on.
Score: 10
5. Attendance – Averaged over five seasons and based on percentage of capacity. Teams got 10 points for 100 percent or more, 99.9-98.9 got nine points, down to three points for 79-70 percent.
Score: 6
6. Twitter Presence – Number of followers for the team’s official feed. Top three teams received 10 points, the next three got nine points.
Score: 2
7. Regular Season – Average finish at the end of the past five seasons. The best team got 30 points, the worst got one.
Score: 19.88
8. Playoff Success – Based on past five years. Teams got 12 points for a Cup win, eight for making the final, six for conference final, four for second round, two for playoff berth.
Score: 8
9. Ownership – Subjective ranking of how owners affect team. Best get 10 points.
Score: 7
10. Draft Success – Based on 2005-2009. One point for each NHL regular produced.
Score: 8
