After a spectacular performance in Game 4 in which he saved all 28 shots against him, John Gibson will be back in net for the Anaheim Ducks in Game 5.
Ducks head coach Bruce Boudreau confirmed earlier today that the rookie netminder will be between the pipes Monday night for a pivotal Game 5 against the Los Angeles Kings.
Gibson, who played in three regular season games for the Ducks this season, was recently recalled from Norfolk as a result of Frederik Andersen‘s injury toward the end of Game 3.
Gibson was given the nod over veteran Jonas Hiller for Game 4 and didn’t disappoint. The rookie from Pittsburgh came up with big save after big save in the 2-0 victory that brought the Ducks even with the Kings in their best-of-seven second round series.
The Ducks fell behind 2-0 in the series after two losses in Anaheim but won both road games in Los Angeles to tie the series. With a strong showing on Saturday night, Gibson should be seeing the rest of the starts in this round and possibly beyond.
