As a possible safety net in case Frederik Andersen‘s injury is serious, the Anaheim Ducks have called up John Gibson from Norfolk.
According to Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register, Gibson is on his way to Southern California.
Gibson, who has spent most of the season with the Admirals, started three games for the Ducks during the final weeks of the regular season. In those starts, Gibson was 3-0-0 and was the winning netminder when Anaheim clinched the Pacific Division title on Apr. 9.
In three games, Gibson finished with a 1.33 GA and .954 SV%.
While playing for the Admirals, Gibson compiled a 21-17-4 record with a 2.34 GA and .919 SV%.
Gibson has also played exceptionally well in this year’s AHL playoffs for the Admirals as he led Norfolk to an upset over the No. 1 seeded Manchester Monarchs.
