Let’s talk about the current NHL overtime rules. The current overtime/shootout set up is getting a little old. Yeah, the shootout can provide some incredible moments, but I’d like to see the rules change to make a shootout a little more out of reach or get rid of it all together. Something else you could do is just make the current overtime period longer. But, anyway, I wanted to gauge how you guys felt about this subject.

Personally, I kind of like just elongating the current overtime to 10 minutes. I do think that a 4-on-4 overtime period followed by a 3-on-3 overtime period would be a bit interesting. I added the continuous overtime option just for kicks and giggles, because the regular season having continuous overtime is a little much. Even though I am not necessarily the biggest fan of the shootout, I do think that it needs to be included. Without a shootout there would be the possibility of a tie and those were the worst thing about pre-“’04-’05 lockout” hockey.
