Anaheim Ducks Digest: 3/20/14

Hello again Anaheim Duck’ fans! It’s game day and that’s always a great day! The Ducks are on the road to face the San José Sharks tonight. Until then here’s the news.

An MRI revealed a sprained MCL for Ducks’ defenseman Cam Fowler. The injury puts Fowler out for three to five weeks, that’s basically the rest of the regular season. Sami Vatanen hasn’t played a game with the Ducks since 5 February before he was sent down to the AHL, where he sustained a knee injury.

Nick Bonino is still out of the lineup tonight against the Sharks so Emerson Etem and Rickard Rakell were recalled from the Norfolk Admirals, to Anaheim, this afternoon. Both are strong and capable players who can fit into the lineup without a problem. They will be sorely missed in Norfolk over the weekend as the playoff push for the AHL is also underway.

The Admirals defeated the Charlotte Checkers last night in a commanding way. There were plenty of points to go around as Devante Smith-Pelly netted two goals in the 5-3 affair. Dave Steckel, a recent visitor in Anaheim, also registered points in the game. Don’t forget that the Admirals play host to the Binghamton Senators this weekend, with games on both Friday and Saturday nights.

Dustin Penner was shocked by his trade to the Washington Capitals. He was recently interviewed about the move and he wasn’t too thrilled about moving east. He’s made the best of it, if you follow his twitter you have seen the hilarity. But what else can he do at this point?

There’s your daily news! Get ready for the game tonight with all your pregame rituals, don’t miss anything because the Sharks are on a hot streak! Rest up your voice so you can cheer as loud as possible and LET’S GO DUCKS!!
