Anaheim Ducks Daily: 3/17/14
Happy St. Patrick’s Day Anaheim Ducks’ fans! The Ducks are off again tonight so we wait for tomorrow’s game (im)patiently. Until then, here’s some news to keep you going while you wait.
The Ducks were on a really bad streak before the Olympics and it’s been rough since the return. Could they be playing themselves out of the running for the President’s Trophy? Could the Ducks be setting themselves up for another early exit from the playoffs? There are those out there who feel as though this is the situation the Ducks are facing.
There’s never any love lost between the Ducks and the Los Angeles Kings when the two teams face each other. Saturday wasn’t any different. The rivalry, nick named the “Freeway Feud”, got even deeper after, what would have been the tying goal, was waived off by the officials.
Today is the “Captain’s Challenge” to promote a healthy lifestyle for fifth graders. 1,000 students will spend half of the day in the Honda Center parking lot participating in a variety of physical fitness activities and learning how being active helps their health. Duck’s captain, Ryan Getzlaf will make an appearance at the event.
Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf have taken over the Ducks’ “Learn to Play Hockey” program. The program has been very succesful and is always filled for every event. Perry and Getzlaf teach first time players between four and 10 years old, how to play hockey and they buy equipment for them as well.
Hopefully that gets you up to date on what is happening in the world of the Anaheim Ducks. Enjoy your day and try not to get too over-anxious before tomorrow’s game. It will be here before you know it!
