Ducks’ Daily: 2/27/14
Good Morning Ducks’ fans! We are getting closer to game day so hang in there just one more day. Your next wake up will be much easier.
The rumor mill has been plenty active recently. It’s to be expected given the time of year. 5 March at 3:00pm eastern time is when the roster freeze occurs. So the rumors will only get more intense as the deadline gets closer. We’ve already heard that Jonas Hiller is allegedly staying put with the ducks this year.
Rumor also has it that the Ducks are interested in Dan Girardi of the New York Rangers. If Hiller isn’t moving, who do the Ducks plan to dangle for trades? Which players are expendable? Maybe Luca Sbisa could be enticing to some but maybe his recent lackluster play and injuries lower his trade value? It will be interesting to see what, if any, pieces the Ducks are willing to release for a mid-season acquisition, who could end up being only a rental.
Sami Vatanen was back in Norfolk yesterday but did not take part in the game against the Charlotte Checkers due to his arrival time. The Admirals beat the Checkers 3-2 with Viktor Fasth in net. According to Pete Michaud, the Admirals radio announcer, Jesse Blacker is skating after his collision with J.P. Cote of the Syracuse Crunch and is expected to return to the line-up soon. That is a huge bullet dodged for both Blacker and the team.
There’s your daily dose of Duck’s News to keep you going with your morning coffee. Make it a great day and smile, it’s almost game day Friday!!
