Ducks’ Daily: 2/26/14

Good morning Ducks’ fans!! Who is counting down the days until the Ducks get back to game day?

Yesterday Honda Center was filled with kids. 14,500 students between third and sixth grade for the “First Flight” field trip. The annual event is in its 14th year and is clearly a fan favorite. The team got worked over in their public practice as well.

Sami Vatanen is, once again, the victim of circumstance. The Olympic defenseman is on his way back to the Norfolk Admirals to make room for Mark Fistric as he rejoins the team from injured reserve.

Though he did not return to Team Finland, their former captain Saku Koivu had only positive things to say about his national team. Koivu chose to remain home and rest for what he hopes is a Cup run.

Keep an eye out for the next “NHL Revealed” episode on your local TV listings. There are some Ducks featured in the final cut and it should be a great look at the players in a different way than what is seen from the NHL side at home.

The Norfolk Admirals play the Charlotte Checkers (Carolina Hurricanes) tonight in a make up game from 28 January. The game was rescheduled due to bad weather. There hasn’t been any information released about defenseman Jesse Blacker after he was assisted off the ice following an ugly hit from J.P. Cote. The hit resulted in Cote’s second suspension of the year and he is a known “head hunter”.

There’s the news ladies and gents. Let’s keep getting ready for Friday’s game and cheer on those Ducks!
