After waiting all day to find out whether or not Anaheim Ducks’ captain Ryan Getzlaf would play or not, we finally got would that he would indeed miss tonight’s game against the Detroit Red Wings.
Getzlaf left last night’s game against the Phoenix Coyotes after blocking a shot, he finished his shift but as he went to skate off the ice he was noticeably in pain.
According to the team’s twitter site, Getzlaf is day-to-day and with the Ducks off for the next two days before they face the Vancouver Canucks – it will give their captain plenty of time to rest.
This will be the second time Getzlaf has missed time with an injury, missing three games earlier in the season. Getzlaf is currently sitting in fourth place in the league in points, a distant 14-points behind the leader – Pittsburgh Penguins’ center Sidney Crosby.
